Abstract
Technology has become a critical component in the personal and professional lives of educators and students. As new technology tools are introduced into classrooms, teachers must learn to adapt their teaching strategies and engage students effectively. This Action Research journey was one that explored ways to increase the use of educational technology within a classroom for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and to discover ways to increase student engagement. Technology skills will be critical for students with special needs as they prepare for adulthood in a world that relies on computers and mobile technology. Examining curriculum and assessing student skills and needs are important components of technology integration. Putting the pieces of the puzzle together and effectively using available technology will help develop the basic or necessary skills for students with disabilities to navigate employment and daily living situations. Increasing technology use in the classroom was the goal of this action research that looked at best practices, technology models, curriculum and local expectations.
